Charges pending against Winfield student caught with prescription drugs
Two high school students at Winfield High School in Putnam County have allegedly been caught with prescription drugs on school grounds. Winfiled police say the two juniors were supposed to attend after-school detention Wednesday, when they were detained after a school resource officer received a tip from other students. Police say the 16-year old got the prescription from a family member and shared the drugs with the 17-year old. The 16-year-old has been charged with possession and intent to distribute prescription medication, and will be expelled from Winfield High School. The 17-year-old student will be suspended. Officials are still reviewing possible criminal charges against the 17-year-old.
