Retired police officer arrested for meth

A retired Charleston police officer awaits court dates on accusations that he sold methamphetamine. A Nitro police officer saw 40-year old David Wayne Reedy, walking through the Nitro Marketplace Walmart store, and recognized him from a previous domestic battery charge in Putnam County where he violated the conditions of his bail, and the officer found out there was an active warrant for his arrest. In the parking lot, the officer saw what appeared to be a hand-to-hand transaction, and meth was discovered in his vehicle, with the help of a drug sniffing dog, according to police documents. Reedy was arrested and faces a felony charge of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance. He left the Charleston police force in 2003.
