Upcoming military conferences good for the economy

Conventions are good for local economies, and Charleston will have two big ones in the coming years. City officials have announced Charleston will host a pair of military conventions in 2014 and 2017. Mayor Danny Jones, along with the Convention and Visitors Bureau announced this week the two conventions combined are expected to have more than a $3.1 million economic impact. The 2014 National Marine Corps convention will bring about a thousand people, and in 2017, the Enlisted Association of National Guard of the US is expected to draw about 1800 with their conference.
