The majority of the sporting events will take place on Magic Island, which is located on the Kanawha river in downtown Charleston. However, many other near-by locations will be hosting events and the full schedule, with locations, will be released soon.
Confirmed and featured events will include: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission wrestling, volleyball, USA Boxing, the Charleston Distance Run, 5K, gymnastics, and much more. There are also on going talks with many more event promoters and some other possible events include a fishing tournament, power lifting, Crossfit and many more. In fact, all event promoters are welcome to contact Butch Hiles if they are interested in possibly hosting their event during this time, because The WV Games is looking to feature a wide variety of events that would draw interest from all walks of life.
“The WV Games is a fun filled weekend of strength and athletic competition and it is a family friendly event that people will enjoy from all over. It’s a lot of exposure for the event promoters and it’s a great way for people to see events and sports that they may have not been exposed to or would have ever thought about attending before,” States Butch Hiles, the WV Games event coordinator.
The WV Games is an important event for the state of West Virginia, because many competitors from both in and out of the state compete and participate. Because of this large influx of out of state participants and spectators, there is a very large and positive economic impact for our state and city. Last years event brought many more people to the surrounding hotels and establishments that would not have otherwise been there.
“We attracted thousands of athletes and spectators at last years event and obviously we hope to continue to exceed that number each and every year. I can only see this event getting bigger and bigger as word of mouth gets out and it’s an absolute pleasure to see people from our state, as well as all of the surrounding states, coming together to participate in something so positive and important as physical fitness and friendly competition,” exclaimed Hiles.
The Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau is assisting with services on this event and for an up-to-date calendar of upcoming events in the city of Charleston, as well as the WV Games, please look at www.charlestonwv.com

Competing booth sponsorships are $2,000 each. Corporate teams select an ice cream flavor, rename it, and decorate a booth based on that name. Judging is based on the renamed flavor, the flavor-to-theme connection, booth design, and overall presentation. Last year's winner was Thomas Imaging Center, a first-time participant in the event. Attendees also get a chance to vote for the People's Choice Award, won last year by Walmart-Nitro.
Don't want to sponsor a booth? Be a "Scoop Sponsor". For $1,000, Triple Scoop sponsors receive premier billing on all event signage and banners, listing in all Summerfest advertising, recognition on United Way's website, event-day opportunity to highlight your company in an on-air radio interview, radio commercial identification during live radio remotes the day of the event, and a recognition award for display at your office or place of business. For $500, Double Scoop sponsors receive listing on all event signage and banners, listing in all Summerfest advertising, radio commercial identification during live radio remotes the day of the event, and a recognition award for display at your office or place of business. Single Scoop sponsors ($250) receive listing on all event signage and banners, listing in all Summerfest advertising, and a recognition award for display at your office or place of business.
