Al and Jeff, Thank you so
much for letting me tell people about colonoscopies on the
anniversary of my dad' s departure (jan 10) .
I have had more people say that they heard me, and like I said
before, if I save one life, I will feel better. Since us
talking, I have had mine and it was good, no problems. But, the
neatest thing happened to me, I went into work a couple of weeks
ago, (I am a phlebotomist, I draw blood), and there was some
paperwork for a guy to have bloodwork and it wasnt even for my
Drs that I work for, and I asked the nurse why he was here, and
she said well last week he called in and wanted to schedule a
colonoscopy, and he had to come in and pick up his prep, and he
asked about this bloodwork and I told him he could have it
here. I said well, I really am not supose to do it for other
Drs, but the ones here in the office, but I will do it. So
while I was taking his blood he proceeded to tell me he was
listening to the radio and there was this girl on there talking
about losing her dad to colon cancer and a simple test that
could be done, and that if her dad would have had one that he
would be here right now. He said it was really sad because the
DJ's were really into it and talking like they new him. I just
stood there, and said that was me. He said YOUR KIDDING, and I
said no, then he asked me about the other test that tests to see
if you carry the gene for colon cancer. I gave him all of the
info about it. Isnt that neat? That could be the life that I
save. I felt really good because I knew I was making a
difference, and he would not have scheduled a colonoscopy if he
hadnt heard me with you guys that morning. Someone (if you know
what I mean )
brought him in there. He wasnt even supose to be there. Then
my best friend who just turned 40 in sept, had one last week
because she has history, and I have been on her, had 3
pre-cancerous polyps .
One was really big and had to be dug out. The Dr told her she
was lucky to have come in, because it was the fast growing
cells, if it would have had time to turn to cancer. I cannot
stress enough the importance of these tests. If anyone had
called on asking about any of these tests, or I can be on there
again, I would be grateful. March is National Colon Cancer
Awareness month. If anyone needs info, they can email me at
msshunter@aol.com, or
even can call me at 304-412-3505. I will talk to anyone about
it. Most of the times there are no symptoms,
and "catching" early is very important. Again, THANK YOU
SINCERELY, and my dad
,Mike
Englert
thanks you too. Have a nice day, Dawn Englert-Lanham
PS, anyway the other test is called PreGen plus. You crap in a
lab approved container, and the lab tests it to see if you carry
the gene for colon cancer. 80-90% of the people who have the
gene develop it sometime in their life. I wasnt out to sell
anything or anybody that morning, so I didnt use names . Have a
good one Dawn
