8th Annual Fox Trot for Parkinson’s Research
Saturday, March 21, 2020 | Charleston, WV
What does that mean?
All it means is that you have to find your own 5k course, which is 3.1 miles, to walk or run on. It could be your local gym’s treadmill, the high school track, or around your neighborhood. We are partnering with a local gym to have it make available their treadmills for our participants to run or walk. Stay tuned for that announcement. In addition, we will be hanging out at Capitol Market on Saturday morning and you could run or walk around the Market ‘s outside pavilion. We will tell you how many times you need to circle it to reach 3.1 miles.
Why are we doing his?
Given the dramatic spread of the Coronavirus, health officials are advising us to limit crowds of over 200 people. In addition, many Parkinson’s suffers are over 65 years old and have underlying conditions. In plain speak, it means we are the most vulnerable population to the virus.
But, we hope that you will still want to participate and help us raise money for Parkinson’s research.
So, what do you have to do?
First of all, register for the Fox Trot and pay your $35 registration fee at www.FoxTrotWV.com. The first 400 people will receive a Fox Trot t-shirt. Remember, 100% of your registration fee goes to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Once you are registered, find your course and walk or run 3.1 miles. You have until March 22 at midnight to run or walk your race and record your time. We will be handing out awards to overall winners and the winners of certain age categories.
Once you have recorded your time, post it to our race page at: https://docs.google.com/
We will also be giving out awards for the best pictures so take a photo of you and your family and friends participating in the Virtual Fox Trot. If a Corona beer happens to slip past the editors, we won’t mind.
We will still be hanging out at Capitol Market on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to hand out our race bags and t-shirts. We will also be there on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. If you want to participate, but you live in New Jersey or Seattle, no problem. We will mail your t-shirt and any prize you may win.
